business idea

Otark provides a platform for concluding green power PPAs for new solar parks and post-EEG wind plants. The platform connects producers and buyers and covers the entire PPA process from search to billing. Growers can create and publish offers, while buyers can view the offers free and anonymously. In the search function, the location of the offer is only visible at federal level. The exact contact details can only be viewed by interested parties after approval by the producer. Buyers can also view other PPA applications via the platform to find out about requested quantities and delivery times. In addition, Otark offers a modular PPA system for standardizing contracts, although you can also use your own contracts. The modular system takes into account all relevant and common contract components and enables simple and structured contract creation. Customers can put together PPA portfolios (“mix and match”) in order to cover their consumption with green electricity as best as possible. Providers have the option of offering different PPAs with different terms for each plant park. If necessary, an Otark partner will assist you in drafting the contract. Before signing the contract digitally, the platform performs partner screening, including KYC (Know Your Customer), sanction list check and credit check. When the contract is concluded, buyer and provider share the Otark matching fees equally (4% of the PPA volume).

Added value of the business idea

Otark offers a neutral platform that is equally committed to the interests of producers and buyers. The platform ensures transparency and efficiency by saving costs and time when searching for PPA partners and accelerating orientation in the PPA market for both buyers and producers. The standardization of contract structures and the structured modular system increase efficiency when concluding PPA. The digital effort involved in signing contracts is further reduced by low transaction costs on both sides. Last but not least, the central retrieval and provision of relevant data makes it easier to check potential green energy consumers and reduces administrative costs on the demand side.

Next development steps

Otark plans to launch the platform with all defined functions in the third quarter of 2024. Other developments include the division of large projects into smaller units adapted to the consumption of SMEs. In addition, the platform should provide PPA recommendations based on the consumption profile in the future. By 2025, Otark wants to provide 75 green power PPAs and help digitize, accelerate and simplify the process.
